Wikipedia Weekly podcast 51
Wow, thank you for the name drop and the iPod Touch wikipedia editing fame. For the folk who want to catch up on the news then go to www.itunes.com and seach for (wikipedia weekly) then down load background 50 and podcast 51 for the iPod touch edit note. With the launch of the iPhone II in July 2008 the convergence of podcast/wikipedia has happened. Roddy Young 12:38, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Re: mailing lists vs. talk pages
I'll put some thought into it, but considering the tens of thousands of discussions in the archives of mailing lists and the project-talk namespace, it might be impossible to put together good statistics on the trends of community talks. All that can really be done are to give specific examples showing that good policy work is being be done in village pumps. I think I'll try to expand that footnote into a sub-section outlying the argument and counter argument about mailing lists and the weakening community; although someone with a longer memory of the 'good old days' of the mailing lists will have to help me with it. --Arctic.gnome 03:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
What makes deletions important
The most gut wrenching experience in wikipedia is for a drive by deletion to happen to some work that one has put time and effort into. However this is what also makes wikipedia trusted. Mutually assured distruction, MAD, is a term that applies to wikipedia from the nuclear arms race of the cold war between USSR and USA. Roddy Young 22:38, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
SV para
Various reasons. Partly because I think we are at this stage better off working on something everyone can edit and plugging in single quotations at the end and partly because it appeared to be an attempt to steer thing off at an angle. Section of the community imediately going off on how hard it is being an admin seems a little odd no? For a lot of day to day community stuff admins are of little significance.Geni 23:16, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
