The Wikipedia Story by Andrew Lih has been in the works since 2006, and will be published by Hyperion in January 2009. The story covers the history of Wikipedia, from its beginnings in Nupedia to the colorful community that has placed it among the most popular Web sites in the world. It explains the underpinnings of the community spirit -- open source software, Richard Stallman, free culture, the hacker ethic, neutral point of view, assume good faith, Wikilove, inclusionism vs. deletionism, and benevolent dictator.
