Wiki research and a round of pony

Google is a “One-Trick Pony” These are the words of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in March 2007 by students at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

While Ballmer a few accessories to Google to evaluate the $ 10 billion revenue mark faster than Microsoft also said: “You’re really just a shop, research and publicity.”

A company by the end of 2007 was to do what is best; dominates the search market. According to statistics from comScore, Google’s market share of 58% in the U.S. International is 69%. The nearest competitor Yahoo is 23%. With these figures, do not look like much room for someone else.

Enter Jimmy Wales. With the arrival of Web 2.0 change the way we communicate, Wales is betting that the time has come to a search engine, such as Wikipedia allows volunteers to cooperation online. Wales also hopes that the new wikiSearch “to reduce congestion on the nature of two or three companies control the flow of search traffic.”

This is even worse songs. As Greg Sterling of Sterling Market Intelligence told the Financial Post, “It is the alignment with the people of Wikipedia in relation to the Death Star, that Google”.

Wales has no illusion that Google provide any time soon. It is believed that about 5% of the market are enough to wiki search.
