Wikipedia is an open source encyclopedia, a Web site where anyone can write an article and post to any topic of their choice. The website has been a remarkable success, with thousands of amateur authorities weight on an infinite variety of subjects. From the summer of 2005, was home to nearly 850,000 on Wikipedia article in English only, with many other entries in dozens of other languages. They currently have more than 1.3 million articles in English, German 445,000, 342,000 French and to a lesser amounts in many other languages such as Dutch, Spanish and Japanese. With “almost” in the words of the century, it is not surprising that simply publishing online encyclopedias such as Wikipedia, are becoming more popular every day. These encyclopedias are known as “wiki” and were as such by Ward Cunningham, author of WikiWikiWeb, during a trip to Hawaii. According to Cunningham, he was traveling on the amendment of the RT-52 shuttle bus from Honolulu International Airport, and found, the line was also known as “wiki wiki”, Hawaiian for “quickly” .
